Shared meals will help provide nutrition, emergency aid, school meals and strengthen food systems in Colombia.

Six decades of conflict, inflation, harsh rainy seasons, climate-related disasters, and an unstable global economy has led to over a million people suffering severe food insecurity in Colombia. 7.8 million people have been displaced by conflict while coastal regions face the highest level of nutritional deficiencies. Parts of the population are struggling to meet basic food needs - in particular ethnic minorities including indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities. As the largest provider of humanitarian aid in Colombia, the World Food Programme is on the ground providing vital food and nutritional assistance to vulnerable communities. WFP is distributing food vouchers to boost local consumption as well as supporting the recovery of ancestral products to build sustainable community livelihoods for indigenous people. WFP is also giving food kits and baskets to migrants intending to settle in Colombia and their host communities. Finally, WFP has ramped up its school feeding program, reaching over 100,000 schoolchildren in La Guajira, Norte de Santander and Atlántico ensuring they receive the nutrition they need to learn and stay at school.
